Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in piano performance or music education with a piano focus.
  • At least 3 years of private teaching experience.
  • Proficiency with piano method books, technique training exercises, and repertoire.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach 45-minute, one-on-one private lessons for students in grades K-12.
  • Differentiate instruction to ensure progress for each student.
  • Set and maintain weekly practice expectations and progress.
  • Assign appropriate weekly material including exercises and repertoire.
  • Communicate with parents and the Conservatory Coordinator.
  • Submit bi-weekly lesson logs to the Conservatory Coordinator.
  • Prepare students for the annual Conservatory Recital each June.
  • Prepare students for auditions or competitions (e.g. NYSSMA, college auditions).
  • Maintain professional and proactive communication.
  • Demonstrate independence and reliability.
