Job summary

Sylvania seeks a Para Educator to assist in supervising and instructing identified students as directed by the supervising teacher, principals, and Special Education Director. Responsibilities include preparing materials, tutoring individuals and small groups, and maintaining records.

Assignments may include meals, recess, bus lines, home visits, and participation in staff development. Sign language and/or bilingual English/Spanish or Russian/Ukrainian skills may be required.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to listen and respond professionally.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and work independently.
• Flexible and able to handle changing assignments or situations.
• Must meet education requirement (AA/72 quarter hours) or pass National Standards Test.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instructional activities under supervision of teachers.
• Assist with supervision of students during meals, outside activities, and bus lines.
• Assist individual and small groups to complete assigned tasks.
• Provide non-instructional assistance, including personal hygiene care as needed.
• Maintain accurate program records and alert teachers to issues.
