Job summary

Bridgeport Diocese seeks an inaugural Director of the Gillis Literacy Education Program (GLEP) to lead a five-year rollout across five pilot schools. Reporting to the Superintendent, this role oversees budget, timeline, and progress, advancing evidence-based literacy and MTSS frameworks in alignment with Catholic educational values.

The ideal candidate is an established education leader with deep expertise in curriculum design, data-driven intervention, and district-wide change management.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Literacy, Educational Leadership, or related field.
• Expertise in MTSS/SRBI frameworks and literacy instruction.
• Experience managing grants and large budgets.
• Proven ability to lead district-level change across multiple schools.
• Strong communication and collaboration with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the 5-year phased rollout across 5 pilot schools.
• Manage the program budget and capital improvements.
• Implement MTSS for literacy with universal screening and progress monitoring.
• Lead selection and implementation of evidence-based reading programs.
• Oversee hiring and professional development for Literacy Coaches and Reading Specialists.
• Establish data systems and report program status to stakeholders.
