Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is seeking a Behavior Specialist to implement school-wide positive behavior support, de-escalate crises, and collaborate with IEP teams. The role emphasizes proactive strategies and data-driven interventions to improve student outcomes.

The position involves working in K-12 settings, applying ABA concepts under supervision, documenting behavior plans, and supporting teachers with classroom management and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• ABA knowledge including FBA, PBIS, and BIP concepts.
• Experience with special education or behavioral health settings preferred.
• Crisis management training certification or ability to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

• Implement targeted interventions to improve academic, social-emotional, behavioral outcomes.
• Reinforce positive behavior and model effective strategies for staff.
• Maintain records related to SBS and BIPs.
• Collect and chart behavioral data to monitor progress with IEP teams.
• Support staff in monitoring student behaviors and class-wide systems.
• Apply ABA principles under supervision of a BCBA to improve outcomes.
• Conduct behavioral observations for FBA and BIPs development.
• Assist in instructional activities and classroom management.
• Provide crisis de-escalation and ensure safety in emergencies.
• Document incidents and maintain confidentiality as per policy.
• Adhere to safety protocols including CPR and First Aid.
• Identify safety hazards and participate in safety committees.
• Attend team meetings and engage in professional development.
