Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Specialist, Content Developer (English Language Arts) to develop K-12 assessments for state and district clients. You will work as both content and assessment expert on the Asset Creation team, leveraging AI tools to ensure high-quality, accessible content.

The role is a 12-month limited term position with a starting salary range of $65,000–$70,000 for full-time work in the United States. Collaboration with educators, psychometricians, and Pearson groups will be essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, content-specific area, or equivalent experience required
• Five years’ experience as an elementary or secondary teacher in the field of content-specific area preferred
• Professional knowledge of content-specific area and educational trends required
• Some experience in large-scale, educational measurement preferred
• General knowledge of all phases of the development, processing, scoring, and reporting of large-scale assessments preferred
• Demonstrated excellence in AI-supported content development or strong potential to leverage AI effectively in content creation
• Experience or familiarity with prompting, refining, and evaluating AI-generated content for education purposes
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills
• Ability to creatively and flexibly address challenges with diverse audiences
• Excellent planning and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Develop and review content-specific test items across grade levels for large-scale assessments
• Help develop item, passage, and test specifications and blueprints
• Leverage AI-powered tools to support assessment content development and accessibility
• Collaborate with team to integrate AI-generated assets in assessment workflows
• Select, train, and manage item writers and educators for item development
• Support customer meetings with content assessment expertise
• Assist in test construction and review of test forms
• Engage with customers in planning and status meetings
• Coordinate with test development managers, other content developers, and psychometricians
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies in content creation
