Job summary

ContextGlobal, Inc. is hiring multiple full-time Educational ASL Interpreters to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and staff across DC Public Schools. You'll be embedded in a partner school for the full school year, working with teachers, students, staff, and visiting professionals who rely on ASL as their primary mode of communication.

This is a school-calendar role. You work the academic year and have summers and school breaks off, with the option to pick up supplemental assignments if

Qualifications

• EIPA 3.5+ or NIC Certification is required.
• Completion of an Interpreter Training Program (accredited ITP preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of professional sign language interpreting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of K-12 educational vocabulary.
• Proficiency in ASL and understanding of Deaf culture and RID Code of Professional Conduct.
• Proficient signing and voicing skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with diverse students, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide ASL interpretation for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and staff across academic and social settings.
• Voice for students and staff, and interpret for teachers, colleagues, and visiting professionals.
• Collaborate with the school's special education and IEP teams.
• Build trusting, age-appropriate relationships with students and families.
