Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking an Assistant Coach for Boys Wrestling (Junior Varsity) at Proviso West High School. The role supports the Head Coach in developing a competitive program and fostering a safe, inclusive environment for student-athletes.

The ideal candidate will have IHSA-compliant certifications, CPR/AED training, and a track record in teaching and coaching. This stipend position reports to the Athletic Director and building Principal.

Qualifications

Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) or ASEP/NFHS Certification.
CPR/AED certification as mandated by IHSA.
IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocols.
Background check and fingerprinting clearance per Illinois School Code.
Completion of federal Title IX training.
Coaching certification through ASEP, NFHS, or IHSA-approved programs; required for non-teaching staff.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Head Coach to design drills, practice plans, and conditioning sessions.
Provide individualized feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
Assist with game-day logistics: equipment, venue prep, warm-ups, and scorekeeping.
Maintain inventory of athletic equipment; coordinate repairs and issuance.
Monitor IHSA rules, district policies, CPR/AED readiness, and concussion management.
Support athlete eligibility tracking and document physicals and academic clearances.
