Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 seeks a High School Assistant Coach to support the head coach in managing the athletic program. The role includes assisting with practices, motivating student-athletes, and teaching game strategies.

Responsibilities include scheduling, eligibility verification, equipment and facility management, and clear communication with athletes, parents, staff, and the community. Certification requirements include AESP and/or Illinois teaching credential, plus First Aid/CPR/AED.

Qualifications

• Certification with American Sport Education Program and/or Illinois teaching certificate.
• Must pass IHSA required tests and view videos.
• Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist head coach with program organization and operation.
• Conduct practices, motivate students, and teach game strategies.
• Develop game schedules, practice schedules, facilities use, transportation, and program budget.
• Verify participant eligibility and registration with the head coach and athletic secretary.
• Maintain equipment, facilities and safety; manage inventory.
• Communicate with athletes, staff, parents and the community; attend pre-season meetings.
