Job summary

Illinois School District U-46 is seeking a High School Assistant Coach to support the head coach in organizing the program, conducting practices, motivating student athletes, and teaching game strategies and techniques.

You will work with the athletic department to ensure player eligibility, plan practice and game schedules, manage equipment, and communicate with students, parents, and staff to promote sportsmanship and academic focus.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of coaching theory, strategies and techniques for high school athletes.
• Emphasis on sportsmanship, academics, positive attitudes and character.
• Knowledge of sport techniques and game strategies.
• Ability to handle stressful situations professionally.
• Background in coaching.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and oversees specific program levels or areas of responsibility.
• Coordinate with head coach to verify eligibility and registrations.
• Develop game and practice schedules, facilities use, transportation, and budget.
• Plan practice sessions and competition strategies with head coach.
• Maintain equipment inventory and safety of facilities.
• Communicate with athletes, staff, parents, and community.
• Maintain relationships with media and local athletics programs.
• Plan and implement safe daily practices and events.
• Supervise students before, during, and after practices and contests.
• Enforce conduct per athletic and student codes.
• Assist fundraising and maintain financial records.
• Maintain end-of-season team records and statistics.
• Build relationships with local athletics organizations and K-8 programs.
