Crescent Energy is seeking an experienced **Joint Venture Auditor II** to join our Houston-based Accounting organization. This position will be responsible for conducting joint venture audits across Crescent's operated and non-operated asset portfolio. The role will support partner and operator audit activities, including hosting audits of Crescent-operated properties and performing audits of third-party operators to ensure compliance with Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs), COPAS Accounting Procedures, revenue distribution requirements, and other contractual obligations.The ideal candidate will have at least **3 years of upstream oil and gas accounting and audit experience**, including exposure to COPAS audits, joint interest billings, revenue accounting, or joint venture accounting. This role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of working collaboratively with Joint Venture Accounting, Revenue Accounting, Production Accounting, Land, Operations, and Finance teams to identify, investigate, and resolve audit findings. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to manage audit assignments with increasing independence.## Reporting StructureThis position reports to the Operations Accounting Supervisor.# Primary Responsibilities* Conduct audits of non-operated joint ventures, including audit testing, documentation review, exception development, and reporting.* Support and participate in partner audits of Crescent-operated properties, including responding to audit requests and preparing supporting documentation.* Review joint interest billings (JIBs), revenue distributions, overhead charges, capital expenditures, and operating expenses for compliance with Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs), COPAS Accounting Procedures, and related contractual requirements.* Analyze accounting records, source documentation, contracts, AFEs, and supporting schedules to identify potential audit exceptions and recovery opportunities.* Prepare audit workpapers, reports, exception summaries, and supporting documentation for management review.* Coordinate with Joint Venture Accounting, Revenue Accounting, Land, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance personnel to investigate and resolve audit-related matters.* Assist with settlement discussions and resolution of audit findings with operators and partners.* Support acquisition, divestiture, and integration activities through audit and due diligence reviews, as needed.* Identify opportunities to improve audit processes, strengthen controls, and enhance compliance with contractual obligations.# Education and Experience Requirements* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.* 3+ years of upstream oil and gas accounting, joint venture accounting, revenue accounting, audit, or related industry experience.* Working knowledge of Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs), COPAS Accounting Procedures, and oil and gas industry accounting practices.* Experience with joint interest billing reviews, revenue accounting, joint venture accounting, or audit activities.* Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.* Experience with oil and gas accounting systems and ERP platforms required; SAP experience preferred.# Preferred Qualifications* Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Accredited Petroleum Accountant (APA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or similar professional designation preferred.* Active participation in COPAS or related industry organizations.* Understanding of operated and non-operated joint venture accounting processes.* Experience working with large data sets and performing accounting analyses.* Knowledge of upstream accounting functions, including joint venture accounting, revenue accounting, production accounting, or AFE administration.* Experience supporting acquisitions, divestitures, and integration activities.* Demonstrated ability to independently manage assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners. *Crescent Energy is an equal opportunity employer.
