Florida Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Juvenile Probation Officer to support rehabilitation efforts for youth in custody, on probation, or parole. You will make recommendations for rehabilitation plans, treatment, and conditions of supervision, while coordinating with families, schools, victims, and law enforcement.

The role involves court appearances, risk/needs assessments, referrals to services, and continuous case management to ensure effective supervision and timely progress

Aufgaben

• Initiate contact with the youth, family, victims, and law enforcement when referrals are received by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (FDJJ).
• Conduct home and school visits as part of information gathering and family involvement.
• Obtain and review collateral information from other agencies involved with the youth/family.
• Conduct and document FDJJ screenings to identify risk/needs and need for further evaluations.
• Formulate case management strategies based on assessments and information gathered.
• Make service referrals and follow-up actions.
• Provide supervision and treatment recommendations to the State Attorney and other judicial partners.
• Complete screening instruments and reports used by the Department and/or the courts.
• Act as DJJ representative during court hearings and prepare/maintain social histories and related documents.
• Testify at hearings when appropriate and prepare affidavits for violations of probation.
• Request hearings when appropriate.
• Complete risk and needs assessments for youth under supervision.
• Conduct face-to-face contacts in homes, schools, and community settings, including non-traditional hours.
• Maintain communication with requirements for stages of youth/family involvement and identify appropriate interventions.
• Assist youth with mental health and substance abuse evaluations and arrange for testing and treatment as needed.
• Assist youth with school enrollment and monitor attendance and performance.
• Provide crisis intervention and refer to crisis resources as needed.
• Help youth set goals/plans and provide ongoing support to achieve them.
• Discuss timelines for goal completion, sanctions, and termination of supervision as ordered by the court.
• Staff cases with the unit supervisor and determine handling of violations using the Effective Response Matrix.
• Attend staffing when benchmarks are reached and coordinate transition/exit plans for youth leaving residential programs.
