Job summary

Ohio Department of Youth Services is seeking a Psychologist for the Indian River Juvenile Correctional Facility in Massillon, Ohio. The ideal candidate will lead psychological services for youth, perform assessments, and develop treatment plans to habilitate youth in a secure environment.

The role involves collaboration with psychiatry, nursing, social work, and other professionals; on-call stipulations and on-site duties are expected.

Qualifications

• License to practice psychology as issued by Ohio State Board of Psychology per Section 4732.12 or 4732.15 (A) of Ohio Revised Code.
• Mandatory 6 weeks paid pre-employment training; Weeks 1 on facility, Weeks 2-4 at DYS Training Academy in Orient, OH, Weeks 5-6 on-site.
• Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening required.
• DYS is a qualifying employer for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

Responsibilities

• Develop and perform psychological assessments and evaluations.
• Interview, administer tests, score and interpret tests.
• Prepare reports based on findings.
• Formulate treatment plans and modify treatment as needed.
• Attend unit treatment team meetings representing the psychological component.
• Submit psychological impressions to the team.
• Confer with institution professionals regarding program.
• Ensure compliance with certifying/accrediting/professional requirements.
• Provide lead work/clinical supervision to student interns.
• Provide and/or participate in individual, group, and family psychotherapy sessions.
• Document activities and prepare required reports.
• Respond to emergencies; may perform lead work over contractual psychologists.
