Job summary

South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) seeks an Intensive Supervision Officer to supervise juveniles, assess needs, and coordinate interventions. You will develop community partnerships, provide alternatives to incarceration, and promote restorative justice practices across the caseload.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in a social science and strong knowledge of juvenile justice laws, with travel within the state and proficiency in Microsoft Word.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal/state laws pertaining to juvenile offenders.
• Ability to organize and maintain a case load.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to facilitate and broker services for juveniles, their families and victims.
• Proficiency in MS Word and MS applications.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the Intensive Supervision Officer for juveniles as assigned.
• Supervises intake, probation and parole cases at moderate or intensive level of supervision according to agency policy.
• Provides a comprehensive screening and assessment of juveniles needs to identify and implement appropriate interventions.
• Develops community partnerships and resources to meet the needs of the youth.
• Provides alternatives to incarceration through graduated responses while promoting community safety.
• Promotes the use of electronic monitoring, STAP and other graduated responses.
• Promotes job readiness in youth.
• Promotes restorative justice practices to address repair of harm/compensation to victims and community.
• Maintains case files including JJMS data entry in accordance with agency policy.
• Prepares reports as requested or required.
• Remains familiar with and knowledgeable on all aspects of the case.
• Participates in job related training and workshops for professional growth.
• Performs other related duties as requested or required.
