Job summary

Greene County Juvenile Court is seeking a Juvenile Direct Care Specialist to provide residential program services for youths at the Greene County Juvenile Detention Center in Xenia, OH. The role focuses on meeting physical, emotional and behavioral needs while supporting organizational goals.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED or an Associate’s Degree in related fields, background checks, drug screening, and a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School degree or GED equivalency; or Associate’s Degree in counseling, social work, sociology, corrections, humanities or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience with juvenile and/or juvenile offenders sufficient to perform the job duties as listed above.
• Completion of professional references check; completion of criminal background check; completion of sexual risk assessment; completion of Ohio Attorney General Offender Search; completion of a drug screening; affirmative duty to report prior and/or current misconduct; valid Ohio driver’s license; confirmation of degrees/licenses/certificates.

Responsibilities

• Residential Program Direct Care: Supervise and interact positively with juveniles; direct and supervise movement; provide support for volunteers, interns, parents and visitors; ensure compliance with rules; carry out daily assignments; facilitate activities; counsel juveniles during outbursts; mediate disputes; supervise recreation.
• Security/Control: Conduct room searches; perform frisk/strip searches per policy; ensure safety and security standards; transport juveniles for releases; operate security systems; supervise visitation; screen for contraband; process juveniles into facility.
• Personal Hygiene/Health and Cleanliness: Monitor hygiene; report illness or injury; assist in medication administration; administer first aid; supervise juvenile cleaning.
• Records/Reports: Prepare and maintain records on resident activities, incidents, behavior and progress; maintain logs; ensure documentation accuracy.
