Job summary

Tarrant County seeks a Juvenile Detention Officer to support Juvenile Detention and Post-Adjudication staff by escorting detained juveniles and ensuring secure custody. You will de-escalate volatile situations, conduct searches, document non-routine events, and assist with inter-departmental transportation, while upholding safety and discipline for residents and staff.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, 2 years in a related field, 1 year with children, and relevant certifications

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certification as a Texas Juvenile Detention Officer preferred.
• CPR/First Aid and Non-Violent restraint certifications desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintains secure custody of detained residents and prevents incidents.
• Escorts residents and visitors safely inside/outside the facility.
• Intervenes in aggressive situations with counseling and crisis intervention.
• Conducts health screening, dress in procedures, and property inventory.
• Documents incidents, restraints, and exchanges information with probation officers.
• Tests and testifies in court as needed.
• Performs facility-wide and personal searches for contraband.
