Job summary

Jefferson County Detention Center seeks a dedicated professional to assist in supervising same-sex juveniles and maintaining a safe, secure environment. The role includes observation, intake, disciplinary oversight, and coordination of academic and recreational programs.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of college in behavioral sciences or related fields, with Bachelor's preferred, and the ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of college courses toward degree in behavioral sciences, sociology, criminal justice or related field.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred; 6 months to 1 year of on-the-job training and/or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise same-sex juveniles and conduct hourly checks.
• Observe behavior to detect security, safety, emotional or medical issues and report them.
• Intake processing, clothing, linens, hygiene supplies, and medication distribution.
• Prepare juveniles for court or appointments and handle releases.
• Assist with academic and recreational programs and supervise meals and duties.
