Job summary

Jefferson County Government is seeking a Detention Aide I to provide direct and appropriate care to juvenile residents in the Jefferson County secure detention program. The role includes meeting basic needs, following policies, and reporting to the Shift Supervisor and Assistant Superintendent.

Responsibilities include ensuring rights are respected, maintaining facility cleanliness, supporting programming, logging activities, ensuring safety, defusing crises, and coordinating with deputy

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; minimum age 19.
• Prior experience with youth preferred.
• Knowledge of juvenile courts and Missouri statutes.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Ensure rights and privileges of juvenile residents are maintained.
• Maintain cleanliness of the detention program.
• Participate in development of recreational/multidisciplinary programming.
• Complete log entries and documentation as required.
• Maintain safety and security through supervision.
• Defuse crises and respond per policy.
• Meet with deputies to share welfare information.
