Solano County is seeking an entry-level Juvenile Correctional Counselor to supervise and counsel justice-involved youths in a county detention setting. You will learn supervision techniques and provide crisis intervention, behavioral support, and CBT group activities as you progress toward the journey level.

Responsibilities include maintaining order, assisting with health and safety, logging reports, and coordinating with medical staff.

Qualifications

• Education: Completion of thirty (30) semester units from an accredited college or university, preferably in criminology, social work, psychology, sociology or a closely related field.
• Experience: Six (6) months of related experience supervising groups in a detention facility.
• Licenses/certifications: Valid California driver’s license (Class C) or ability to obtain; First Aid and Personal Safety certificate or ability to obtain within 60 days; CPR certificate or ability to obtain within 60 days; completion of Juvenile Counselor Core Course within 12 months of appointment.

Responsabilités

• Supervise and counsel justice-involved youth in a detention facility; learn to maintain order and structure; assist youths in using resources and opportunities.
• Learn techniques for effective supervision and counseling of youth; support, guidance, and direction in a community setting as assigned.
• Assist in health and safety of youth; monitor group dynamics; log and dispense medications as prescribed; document behavior and incidents; plan activities and CBT groups; transport youth to appointments as needed.
