Job summary

Ingham County in Michigan seeks a Juvenile Facility Supervisor to safeguard residents, staff, and visitors within the youth detention setting. You will supervise daily activities, monitor security, and guide residents through educational programs.

You will facilitate CBT/RBT-based interventions, document behaviors, and assist with medical and administrative tasks. Strong communication and trauma-informed approaches are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Equivalent of two years of college coursework in child development or related field.
• Prefer Bachelor’s Degree in child development or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years working with delinquent or emotionally troubled youths and/or families, in intern or volunteer capacity.
• Alternatively, high school diploma with 3 years related experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises residents daily and enforces security checks, counts, room checks, and camera monitoring.
• Monitors for crises and alerts staff; provides intervention as per policies.
• Facilitates therapeutic interventions (CBT, RBT, psychoeducation, social skills).
• Documents resident behaviors and maintains resident files with required information.
• Assists in classroom activities, homework support, discipline, and housekeeping tasks.
• Attends to medical emergencies, medications, and transportation for medical needs.
• Acts as a positive role model and provides counseling and referral when appropriate.
• Participates in intake, restraints policies, and incident reporting as needed.
• Provides supervision for visits, hearings, and communications; coordinates with staff.
• Supports staff training on safety, security, and crisis response.
