Job summary

VanWonen seeks a Detention Supervisor for a Juvenile Care Center in Michigan. The role oversees safety and supervision of residents, staff and visitors, guiding daily activities and enforcing behavior management rules with positive reinforcement.

Qualified candidates hold an Associate’s Degree in a related field, at least two years of experience in a childcare detention setting, and a valid Michigan driver’s license. CPR, CPI and First Aid certifications are required.

Job description

Under the supervision of a Detention Supervisor – Juvenile Care Center provides for the safety, welfare, and security of the residents, staff, visitors, and building. Supervises, guides, and counsels residents through daily activities within the framework of the day treatment and detention units. Enforces rules within a behavior management setting by providing positive and authoritative reinforcements. Prepares a variety of reports, court reports, and documents detailing residents functioning in a structured setting.

Associate’s Degree in social work, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, counseling, or related field and two year of progressively more responsible experience in a childcare institution detention or juvenile residential treatment facilities. Valid Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License. Must obtain certification in CPR, CPI and First Aid to maintain employment. Current hourly rate $23.61.
