Job summary

Erie County is seeking a Juvenile Counselor at the Edmund L. Thomas Center on a per diem, part-time basis. The role focuses on care, supervision and security of adolescents, with duties spanning interviews, risk assessment, and family coordination.

This position requires a Bachelor's in Behavioral Sciences (or an equivalent credential), a minimum of 1 year working with youths, and a valid driver’s license. SCM certification is expected to be obtained as part of the role.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences or an equivalent 60 college credits option.
Minimum 1 year experience working with adolescents.
Valid driver’s license required.
Must be able to obtain Safe Crisis Management (SCM) certification.

Responsibilities

Provide care, supervision and security for adolescents and children in the center.
Conduct interviews to assess and plan interventions with families and caseworkers.
Monitor residents and coordinate emergency medical care when needed.
Organize daily activities, supervise night hours and document observations.
Maintain confidentiality and participate in treatment planning meetings.
