Erie County is seeking a Juvenile Counselor Trainee at the Edmund L. Thomas Adolescent Center. The role focuses on caring for and supervising adolescents in detention and dependent shelters, providing counseling and coordinating with schools and social services.

The position requires working closely with youth, families and professionals, including potential SCM certification, and involves daily counseling sessions, behavior management, and safety supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience working with adolescents and a Bachelor's Degree in the Behavioral Sciences or an Associate's Degree or 60 College Credits
• Minimum of 3 years of Experience in Working with Adolescents and 60 credits from an Accredited College
• Must have a Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Supervise delinquent youth in work, recreational or educational activities
• Provide counseling and maintain discipline and security
• Plan and participate in daily activities and coordinate with schools and community resources
• Prepare reports and ensure confidentiality of records
