Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as a Juvenile Correctional Officer Sergeant (PSP223) or equivalent; or two years of military experience at E-5 or higher.
• Must possess and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within the first six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for custody, security, and care of youth following Georgia DJJ policies and procedures.
• Intervenes with youth to maintain safe, orderly, and disciplined environment through active supervision.
• Provides direct support, guidance, and structure for detained youth focusing on safety, conduct, care, and rehabilitation.
• Supervises and plans work of assigned staff.
• Completes administrative paperwork and maintains records, forms and reports.
• Develops work and security procedures and conducts contraband searches and inspections.
