We are seeking a full-time Juvenile Corrections Clinician to provide mental health and substance abuse services to adolescents remanded to Crater Youth Care Commission.

Responsibilities

Assessment, treatment planning, individual, group and family counseling, case coordination, case management, referrals, crisis intervention coordination, and discharge planning.

Required Education and Experience
  • Masters degree in a Human Service or related field required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience providing clinical services to youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) and/or adolescents at risk for substance use disorders.
  • Must be registered with the Virginia Department of Health Professions with current LMHP or LMHP-E licensure status.
  • Valid VA driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge and understanding of legal and regulatory issues as they pertain to the treatment of youth.
  • Knowledge of clinical counseling (individual, group and family) to include but not limited to assessment techniques, bio/psychosocial and cultural aspects of substance use and mental health disorders particularly as occur in youth, self-help groups, dually diagnosed clients and relevant treatment approaches, crisis intervention, case management, child and human personality, growth, and development.
  • Strong competency in clients' rights, ethics, confidentiality and professional practice.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality regulations (including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, as applicable).
  • Skills in providing individual, family, and group counseling; completing psychosocial evaluations of children; coordinating services for children and their families.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and abilities in providing emergency/crisis intervention service while maintaining casework documentation.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to effectively engage intime management and organization of case load.
  • Ability to maintain clear and consistent boundaries with consumers and their families while working with various cultures and special needs groups.
  • Ability to work effectively with all types and levels of people; respond appropriately to supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of child mental health issues and diagnosis.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical record documentation.
Preferred
  • Crisis intervention experience.
  • Experience in the criminal justice system.
Special Work Conditions

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds (ex: supplies for meetings, etc.).Work requires sitting, standing, typing, and home/community visits. May require evenings/weekends when needed to address board/agency functions. Travel throughout the catchment area and possibly out of catchment area as needed.

Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry report will be required upon selection. Our Agency maintains a drug-free workplace.

This position will be required to primarily work in a secure juvenile detention facility.

Annual Salary Range

Grade C9 for Licensed Eligible.$60,863.00 - $68,471.00.

Grade C11 for Licensed.$69,356.00 - $80,916.00.
