Job summary

FM in Los Angeles is seeking an entry-level Underwriter I/II to develop underwriting, relationships and engineering skills while supporting the Account Manager on underwriting issues. You will complete training in underwriting, engineering, relationships, client servicing and sales, with a path to advanced underwriter roles.

Based on experience, the role may be Underwriter I or II, with growth opportunities as you gain proficiency in linesetting, pricing, risk analysis and client servicing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
• 2+ years insurance or financial industry experience preferred.
• Basic proficiency in account management, business communications, exposure analysis, negotiations, presentation skills, program structure and linesetting, and relationships.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop skills in underwriting, relationships and engineering while supporting Account Managers on underwriting issues.
• Assist with linesetting, reinsurance needs and placement, rating and pricing, and analysis of coverages, terms and conditions.
• Learn underwriting guidelines and profitability analysis to aid program analysis and design.
• Support internal and external meetings, presentations and proposals to develop account management and presentation skills.
• Identify clients' operating strategies and business goals to develop servicing plans under mentorship.
• Complete vital training in underwriting and related areas to attain underwriting binding authority.
