Job summary

PRIME AE Group in Indianapolis or New Albany seeks an Entry-Level Project Engineer – Transportation to join our Transportation team. You will assist with planning and design of roadway, drainage, traffic and bridge projects while building hands‑on experience alongside senior engineers.

We value recent graduates or new entrants with a Civil Engineering degree (EIT preferred), strong problem-solving and communication skills, and a willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering completed or anticipated by start date.
• 0–2 years of experience; recent graduates encouraged to apply.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Internship, co-op, or academic project experience in civil/transportation engineering is a plus but not required.
• Interest in developing experience across roadway, drainage, traffic, bridge, and other transportation disciplines.
• Familiarity with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar software through coursework or internships.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning and design of roadway, drainage, traffic, bridge, and other transportation infrastructure projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, design plans, exhibits, technical documentation, and cost estimates under guidance.
• Support roadway design activities including roadway geometry, grading, intersections, and related improvements.
• Assist with drainage, traffic, and bridge-related engineering assignments.
• Support utility and railroad coordination, environmental documentation, permitting, and agency coordination.
• Learn and apply transportation design standards, engineering practices, and quality-control procedures.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and other disciplines to support project delivery.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, field investigations, and construction-related activities.
• Maintain organized project documentation and help meet schedules and quality expectations.
• Develop technical knowledge and take on increasing project responsibility as experience grows.
