Job summary

WSP is seeking a Full-Time Early Career Civil Engineer in Baton Rouge, LA to join our Transmission Line Design team. You will contribute to due diligence, investigation, design, and construction of utility-scale projects with focus on transmission and distribution systems.

The role involves site data collection, basic engineering tasks, and documentation, with opportunities to work within a growing energy practice and collaborate with a broader Power Delivery team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with design/build concepts.
• Familiarity with civil construction laws, codes, regulations and record-keeping.
• Strong written and verbal communication for engineering audiences.
• Ability to work independently or in a team to meet objectives.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data collection and analysis from sites, surveys, maps, and GIS data for project development and construction.
• Perform basic professional civil engineering work including research and inspections of site conditions to ensure compliance with rules and permits.
• Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements ensuring safety and functionality for end-users and infrastructure.
• Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on engineering, design, and construction issues.
• Generate documentation using electronic systems, drawings and field logs.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and site procedures; complete assigned training.
• Contribute to project tasks under supervision and demonstrate responsible conduct with company resources.
• Support additional responsibilities as required by project needs.
