The role focuses on design, planning, and safety and offers exposure to 500 kV transmission projects. Candidates should have a Civil/Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering degree, 0–2 years of experience, EIT preferred, familiarity with PLS-CADD, Excel, and national electrical codes, and willingness

Qualifikationen

• Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering Degree.
• 0 - 2 years of experience in the transmission engineering field.
• Preferably, EIT-certified with the ability to be certified as a professional engineer as soon as eligible.
• Experience with Power Line and Structure modeling for computer aided design: PLS-CADD and modules (POLE, TOWER); Excel; MFAD or LPILE.
• Knowledge in ACI, ASCE Pole manual, AISC Steel manual preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with NESC, industry codes standards and practices for electric utility practice preferred but not required.
• Interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to lead.
• Attention to detail.
• Travel may be required.

Aufgaben

• Assist in development of material lists in Excel spreadsheets.
• Develop structure framing details for different pole materials (steel, round wood, laminated wood).
• Coordinate environmental and licensing processes in the transmission line design process.
• Site new transmission line and assess real estate, licensing, and environmental constraints.
• Read and interpret project schedule including design, client reviews, licensing, and other activities.
• Develop plan & profile drawings under supervision of engineers.
• Create a complete design package with construction details and material lists.
• Perform engineering calculations to ensure safety and performance.
• Coordinate equipment delivery and design engineering to meet schedules.
• Check completed designs for adequacy of documentation.
