Profile

A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a Junior- to Mid-Level Intellectual Property Litigation (Patent) Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will have experience in patent litigation before U.S. district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), or the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, ideally with an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or physics. An advanced degree or relevant industry experience is advantageous. Membership in the Patent Bar is preferred.

Duties:

  1. Represent clients in patent litigation before U.S. district courts, the ITC, and the PTAB.
  2. Develop and implement litigation strategies, including legal research, drafting case documents, and preparing briefs and motions.
  3. Draft, review, and file legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
  4. Manage and conduct discovery processes, including document review, deposition preparation, and expert coordination.
  5. Participate in trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings, presenting evidence and arguments effectively.
  6. Collaborate with clients, technical experts, and senior attorneys to build and support patent litigation cases.
  7. Analyze complex technical and legal issues to develop effective litigation strategies.
  8. Stay current with developments in patent law, litigation trends, and technological advancements.
  9. Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and deadlines.

Requirements:

  1. Experience with patent litigation before U.S. district courts, the ITC, or the PTAB.
  2. Preferred educational background includes an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field.
  3. Advanced degree or industry experience in a relevant technical field is a plus.
