Job summary

Gensler in Seattle seeks a Technical Designer to translate architect sketches into 2D/3D models and drive projects from concept through build. You’ll collaborate with design teams and coordinate documents across consultants, vendors, and clients to ensure constructible, quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related design discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 0–5 years of related project experience, with growing responsibility and complexity.
• Strong proficiency in Revit required; familiarity with BIM 360, AutoCAD, and Enscape highly beneficial.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and/or SketchUp.
• Foundational knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and applicable building codes.
• Familiarity with BIM workflows and Grasshopper is a plus.
• Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required.
• Portfolios should include at least one sustainability-focused project.
• Candidates should be prepared to discuss built work aligned with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL, Fitwel, Net Zero Building.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver informed project solutions based on market expertise and client goals.
• Documentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.).
• Coordinate with the project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultants.
• Resolve complex technical and design issues with the team to produce innovative, technically sound solutions.
• Direct production of drawings, specifications and construction administration tasks.
• Deliver documents with design intent and high technical quality.
• Process submittals and substitutions during construction and address RFIs.
• Interface with permitting officials during permitting and construction phases.
