Job summary

ASE Group, a boutique CPA firm in Northern NJ, is seeking a Junior Accountant to join a young, dynamic team. The role focuses on preparing federal and state tax returns, researching tax topics, onboarding new clients, and drafting notices, with growth potential as you ramp up.

Candidates should have a degree in accounting/tax, with 2+ years of experience and strong ProConnect Tax Online skills. A flexible schedule is available as you ramp up, with 25+ hours per week qualifying for benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, tax or finance.
• EA/CPA or EA/CPA candidate, strongly preferred.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in accounting/tax/finance.
• 2+ years demonstrated experience in Intuit ProConnect Tax Online, strongly preferred.
• Audit background (or experience with documentation and ticking and tying).
• Attention to detail and the ability to research effectively.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal and state individual (1040), Partnership (1065) and S Corp (1120S) returns, related extensions and estimates.
• Conduct tax research on a variety of tax topics.
• New client onboarding.
• Draft responses to federal, state, and local tax notices.
• Take on an active role in tax planning -- Identifying potential tax deductions and savings clients have not considered.
• Advising clients about tax laws and how to meet requirements.
• All other duties as assigned.

Pay:

Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 9am - 2pm. Additional hours and flexibility in schedule available as you ramp up.

Candidates will be exposed to clients in various industries. Our clients typically live and/or work in NJ/NY/CT/PA, have a mix of self-employment income, capital gains/losses and/or rental property activity, and seek year-round advisory support. The candidate must have a "roll up your sleeves" attitude, be detail- oriented, and be able to effectively prioritize to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

2+ years demonstrated experience in Intuit ProConnect Tax Online, strongly preferred

Audit background (or experience with documentation and "ticking and tying")
