Job summary

Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) is seeking a Systems Engineer Junior/Journeyman to join the Space Systems Group in the Space and Intelligence Division.

The role involves modeling, analysis, requirements development, and cross‑discipline collaboration to deliver integrated solutions for national security programs. Candidates should have a engineering degree, citizenship and security clearance readiness, and experience with modeling tools such as MATLAB, STK, Python, and SysML.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship with active Secret or TS/SCI (dependent on program) at time of application.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 3-9 years of systems engineering experience.
• Proficiency with modeling and simulation environments (e.g., MATLAB, STK, Python, SysML tools).
• Demonstrated ability to develop requirements, conduct analyses, and support system integration.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering teams.
• Ability to report to designated work location in El Segundo, up to full time, based on the needs of the customer.

Responsibilities

• Creating and executing modeling, simulation, and analysis activities to evaluate system performance.
• Developing system and subsystem requirements, interfaces, and technical specifications.
• Conducting engineering trade studies to inform design decisions.
• Supporting system architecture development and MBSE products.
• Preparing detailed technical documentation, briefings, and analysis results.
• Leading subsystem-level integration and coordinating across technical disciplines.
• Supporting test planning, V&V, and performance evaluation using analytical and simulation tools.
• Identifying technical risks, gaps, and dependencies in system designs.
• Improving and maintaining engineering models, baselines, and processes.
• Mentoring junior engineers on modeling and analysis tools.
