Overview

JUNIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER (ESOH) (TCE)

Bowhead seeks a Junior Systems Engineer (ESOH) to join our Tactical Communications and Electromagnetic Warfare (TCE) in Stafford, VA. The Junior Systems Engineer will provide Systems Engineering knowledge, technical guidance, and program support with a particular emphasis on Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH), system safety documentation, and coordination of safety activities across the program management office.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering or scientific work in a project or perform work that involves conventional engineering or scientific practices.
  • Generate specifications or plans to support the development of acquisition documentation.
  • Support technical findings, opinions, or recommendations.
  • Perform customer liaison, make presentations, and attend customer meetings.
  • Consult with stakeholders on technical applications to support program management decisions.
  • Perform the administrative and technical support required to successfully coordinate and facilitate Systems Engineering Technical Reviews, to include development and update of supporting documentation for each event (i.e., Technical Review Action Plan, Technical Review Data Package); creation of technical review summary reports and additional supporting documentation; development of meeting minutes and action item trackers; and update of event information on calendars and Government-specified websites (i.e., Teams, SharePoint).
  • Develop, review, update, and deliver systems engineering documentation, to include Systems Engineering Plans and program-specific annexes; baseline documentation; Engineering Change Proposals; System Requirements documentation; and Work Breakdown Structures.
  • Participate in Configuration Management activities.
  • Leverage knowledge of systems engineering processes to inform the program Integrated Master Schedule on key engineering events and documents and their expected durations and dependencies.
  • Analyze user requirements and provide input to system specification documents and Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTM), ensuring the RTM is updated following the completion of each test event.
  • Provide Systems Engineering support with an emphasis on Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH) activities across assigned PMO/PO systems. Draft, review, edit, collect, maintain, and coordinate staffing of safety reports, engineering documentation, acquisition documentation, briefings, and other safety-related artifacts in support of the program ESOH process. Coordinate safety documentation and actions with Program Engineering leads, relevant program stakeholders, and the MCSC Safety Office. Maintain required safety documentation and records within Government-specified electronic repositories, including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, and support tracking of safety-related actions through completion.
Qualifications
  • BS/ BA degree in an engineering field.
  • Two to four (2-4) years of professional experience.
  • Experience supporting system safety, Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH), safety engineering, risk management, or related engineering documentation is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of DoD or military system safety/ESOH processes, safety documentation, or safety risk management is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Experience supporting government or military environments is highly desired.

Targeted salary range is $75,000 to $90,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
