Job summary

A defense services company is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support Requirements Identification and Systems Engineering tasks. The role involves gathering project requirements, creating engineering drawings, and supporting multiple operational groups. The ideal candidate will have ten years of project management experience, including work with Naval tactical systems and proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft VISIO. SUMMARY:

The Senior Systems Engineer (SSE) will provide support in three broad functional areas. These include Requirements Identification, Acquisition, Systems and Facility Engineering Support. Requirements Identification includes the gathering and analysis of Aegis weapon systems documentation. Acquisition includes determining parts or components required for various projects and requirements. Systems and Facility Engineering includes engineering space allocation and connectivity equipment necessary to establish Laboratories in the IWSL to meet facility user test requirements. The position is not covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA) Davis Bacon Act (DBA), or union.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gather and investigate tactical requirements from IWSL and customers. Research requirements using web tools, internet, Aegis Weapons System Design documentation and Points of Contact. Provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) and develop IWSL Local Change Notice (ILCN) to support requirement. Package may contain items such as Floor plans, Power and Cooling, Data Cable Build/Install List, and Equipment Interconnecting Diagrams.
  • Develop and maintain AutoCAD and Visio drawings. These include but are not limited to Tactical Roadmaps, Building Floor maps, Rack Elevation, Hotel Services, and Security.
  • Develop and maintain Engineering Databases as required.
  • Develop and maintain PowerPoint Briefs as required.
  • Provide Engineering assistance to Configuration Management Group, Tactical Operations Group, Network Operation Group, and Commercial Systems Group.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:

Education and Experience:

  • The Senior Systems Engineer (SSE) shall have ten (10) years of experience in project management with a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience that demonstrates the ability to direct the preparation of facility systems designs, acquisition and logistics support, and change control.
  • The SSE shall have eight (8) years of experience with Naval tactical systems, simulation systems, commercial systems, communication systems and applications.
  • Experience that demonstrates the ability to direct the preparation of facility systems designs, acquisition and logistics support and change control.
  • Experience in AutoCAD and Microsoft VISIO, as well as Microsoft Office.
  • Must have or be able to attain a DOD security clearance.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • The ability to work independently and complete a substantial body of work.
  • Ability to accept and respond to new emergent and unique project task requirements.
  • Ability to present ideas clearly and succinctly both in writing and verbally to co-workers, team members, internal department groups and personnel as well as outside entities to include other departments.
  • Ability to use a variety of office automation software, i.e., Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, AutoCAD, etc. to accomplish technical and support work.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:

DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. In addition, a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required.
