Job summary

Frequentis USA is seeking a Systems Engineer in Maryland to integrate software and hardware, configure networks, and validate IT system solutions for our mission-critical communications products.

You will collaborate with program management, hardware & software development, solution architects, test engineering, field engineering, and production to deliver reliable, secure installations and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• BS in IT or related field with IT systems experience.
• 1–3 years in systems engineering integrating hardware and software.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on integration of software and hardware components, including software installation and configuration.
• Implements and validates IT system solutions for networking, computing, and proprietary equipment.
• Develops and follows test procedures to verify system functionality and debug.
• Conducts factory and site acceptance tests, and analyzes failures.
• Creates and reviews technical documentation for production builds (rack layouts, cables, layouts, BOMs).
• Collaborates with program management, hardware & software development, solution architects, test engineering, field engineering, and production.
• Supports production team to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Participates in on-site installations, integration, testing and maintenance activities.
• Assesses site/contract information to plan computer and peripheral equipment layouts.

Key Tasks

• Hands-on integration of software and hardware components including software installation and configuration, network configuration, and telecommunications hardware integration.
• Implements and validates IT system solutions for networking, computing, and our propriety communications equipment including conceptional, functional, and physical views.
• Develops and follows test procedures to verify system functionally and perform system debug.
• Develops and conducts factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, failure location and analysis.
• Creates and reviews technical documentation supporting production build (e.g., rack layouts, cable plans, system layouts, system configuration, build of materials, build plans/instructions).
• Collaborates with internal teams (e.g., program management, hardware & software development, solution architects, test engineering, field engineering, production) for total project success.
• Supports system production team to troubleshoot and solve production issues.
• Participates in on-site installations, integration, testing and maintenance activities.
• Analyzes site and contract information to determine, recommend, and plan layout for type of computers and peripheral equipment, or modifications to existing equipment and systems that will provide capability for proposed project or work load, efficient operation, and effective use of allotted space.
• Ensures adherence to industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• May participate in remote system monitoring, maintenance, and tier 2 on call support.

Key Qualifications

• BS in Information Technology, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering/Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience with IT systems and engineering.
• 1-3 years’ experience in Systems Engineering integrating, deploying, and supporting integrated hardware and software solutions in the area of networking and communications.
• Demonstrates the ability to implement and apply best-practice system engineering concepts.
• Excellent problem solving, analytical, and technical troubleshooting skills.
• Highly organized with strong written and verbal communication skills.
