Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks an entry-level engineer focused on structural design and construction to support the Waterfront Engineering Backlog Reduction Team. You will split time between troubleshooting in the shipyard and performing structural analyses in the Groton office.

This role offers exposure to submarine design elements, collaboration with NAVSEA, and opportunities to develop broad knowledge across pressure hull, external structures, tanks, and foundations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (Completed by December 2026).
• 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience
• Experience or coursework in Structural Analysis
• Experience or coursework in Material Science, Welding, Machine Design, Finite Element Analysis

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot construction issues in the shipyard.
• Technically evaluate conditions via calculations and reports in the Groton office.
• Interact with NAVSEA and shipyard teams.
