Job summary

WHKS & Co is seeking an entry-level structural engineer to join our team on transportation and building projects. You will work with engineers to design bridges, retaining walls, and buildings, developing 2D/3D models and supporting site data collection.

You will gain experience in design calculations, reports, and construction observation while collaborating with a team to deliver projects on time and within spec.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• FE exam or able to pass within 6 months.
• 0–5 years of experience in structural design.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent computer and written/verbal communication skills.
• Experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads/OpenBridge/MathCad/RCPier/STAAD/MDX is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for transportation structure projects (bridges, culverts, walls).
• Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for building projects (expansion, rehabilitation, parking ramps).
• Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for geotechnical projects (foundations, slope stabilization).
• Develop 2D and 3D models using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Designer.
• Assist with site data collection, technical report writing, quantity calculations, and design calculations.
• Assist in facilitating project-related public information meetings.
• Assist with bridge inspections: field inspections, documenting conditions, inspection reports.
• Perform construction observation: concrete testing, material reports, logs.
