Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• E.I. certification or ability to pass the FE exam within 6 months.
• 0–5 years of experience in structural design.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Excellent computer and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, OpenBridge Designer, MathCad, RCPier, STAAD or MDX would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Iowa DOT specifications and procedures is a plus.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Must be able to manage workload independently.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for transportation structure projects.
• Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for building projects.
• Prepare design calculations, reports, and plans for geotechnical projects.
• Develop 2D and 3D models using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and/or OpenBridge Designer.
• Assist with data collection at project sites, technical report writing, and quantity calculations.
• Assist with facilitating project-related public information meetings.
• Perform construction observation and maintain daily logs.
• Assist with bridge inspections and documenting structural conditions and maintenance needs.
