Job summary

Astound is seeking a Junior SQL Server Database Administrator to join its IT Infrastructure team in Williamstown, NJ. You will assist in the administration, monitoring, and support of Microsoft SQL Server databases while gaining exposure to Oracle environments.

This role reports to the Director of IT and offers a path to grow in enterprise data management, with a comprehensive benefits package and a base compensation range of $70,000 to $90,000 per year.

Qualifications

• 2 years experience with SQL Server databases.
• Basic understanding of relational database concepts.
• Familiarity with Oracle databases.
• Basic knowledge of Windows Server and Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases in development, test, and production environments.
• Perform routine database administration within Microsoft SQL Server - tasks including backups, restores, integrity checks, and index maintenance.
• Assist with Microsoft SQL Server database provisioning, configuration, and patch management.
• Monitor Microsoft SQL Server database performance and help identify bottlenecks or optimization opportunities.
• Troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server database connectivity and performance issues.
• Assist with Microsoft SQL Server upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
• Maintain Microsoft SQL Server database security, permissions, and role-based access controls.
• Assist with administration and monitoring of Oracle Database environments.
• Support Oracle backup and recovery operations using RMAN.
• Help monitor Oracle database health, performance, and storage utilization.
• Participate in Oracle patching and upgrade activities.
• Support Oracle user account management and security administration.
• Other duties as assigned
