Job description

Job Description: Junior Sous Chef at Apapacho Restaurant Group

LA Cha Cha Chá, a Mexican restaurant located in the downtown Arts District, is seeking a Full-Time Junior Sous Chef. Our menus are inspired by Mexico City’s culinary innovations and traditional dishes. The Junior Sous Chef must have open availability for a five-day work week.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Sous Chef during dinner and lunch service, leading and supporting the team.
  2. Prepare and cook menu items, including seasonal specials, supporting the AM team under the Sous Chefs.
  3. Participate in staffing, planning, and assigning work, as well as setting performance and development goals for team members.
  4. Maintain food quality and health standards throughout food preparation.
  5. Train team members on food safety and company protocols.
  6. Manage inventory, including ordering and receiving supplies.
  7. Ensure raw and cooked food meet quality standards.
  8. Support BOH positions as needed.
  9. Ensure proper storage and security of food, beverages, inventory, and equipment, minimizing waste.
  10. Monitor kitchen operations through AM and PM/closing lists.
  11. Perform administrative duties such as invoice processing and inventory management.
  12. Report maintenance issues to management.
Qualifications:
  • Preferred: Valid food handler certificate.
  • 2+ years experience in a high-volume kitchen preferred.
  • Experience as a Lead Cook or Junior Sous Chef preferred.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive motions during shifts.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
Compensation:
  • $20-$24 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Estimated tips of $30-$60+ weekly; tips depend on hours worked and daily business.
