Job summary

Pioneering Evolution is seeking entry-level engineers to help build SyncCore and related modules in Arlington, VA. You will work on a stack including C#, .NET 8+, ASP.NET Core, Angular, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, EF Core, RabbitMQ, Docker, Git, and Azure Government.

You’ll collaborate with a lead architect and senior engineers, write production code, review peers, and gradually own features as you grow. This is a hybrid role with a few days onsite in Arlington.

Qualifications

• Strong fundamentals in software development and OOP.

What you would actually be working on:

At Pioneering Evolution, we are building SyncCore — Mission Operating System (Mission OS), designed to connect data, systems, workflows, and decisions across complex mission environments. SyncCore provides the secure, event-driven digital backbone for identity, integration, canonical data, governance, auditability, and interoperability—creating a trusted foundation on which mission capabilities can rapidly evolve. It is the foundation everything else stands on.

Built on SyncCore, SyncPointis a modular application ecosystem composed of independently deployable modules that address specific operational needs, such as requirements management, budgeting, task planning, resource allocation, execution, and decision support. Real programs, real money, real decisions.

You would join either the platform team or one of the module teams. Both are great places to learn, and we will talk with you about which fits best. You’ll write production code, participate in design discussions, review code with experienced engineers, and gradually take ownership of features as your skills grow.

The stack: C#, .NET 8+, ASP.NET Core on the back end. Angular and TypeScript on the front. PostgreSQL with Entity Framework Core underneath. RabbitMQ for event-driven messaging. Docker, Git, CI/CD, and Azure Government around all of it.

What we actually require:

Here is the honest version, because vague postings waste everyone’s afternoon.

You need

• Software development fundamentals and a working grasp of object-oriented programming.
• Experience with C# or any other statically typed language. Java, Kotlin, C++, Go, TypeScript, Swift — all fine. We are hiring for how you think, not which compiler you have used.
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
• Some understanding of web applications, HTTP, and APIs.
• Familiarity with Git.
• The ability to work a problem systematically when it does not make sense yet, and to say so out loud when it does not.
• Professional experience. Internship, co-op, academic, military, open-source, or serious personal-project work can absolutely demonstrate what we are looking for.
• Prior .NET, Angular, PostgreSQL, Entity Framework, RabbitMQ, or Azure experience. These are on our stack, not on your entry exam. We will teach them.
• Every buzzword in this posting. Nobody has all of them. We would rather hire someone with solid fundamentals and real curiosity than someone who has skimmed all of it and internalized none of it.

Typically 0–3 years of professional experience. If you are further along and this still describes you, apply anyway and we will talk about level.

Clearance, citizenship, and location

• U.S. citizenship is required. No exceptions. This is a federal program requirement and we cannot waive it.
• You do not need an active clearance to apply. An active Secret is welcome. If you do not have one, you need to be eligible for an interim Secret — and we sponsor. We will walk you through the SF-86, the fingerprinting, and the timeline. Plenty of our people started exactly here.
• Hybrid, with a few days a week at our Arlington headquarters at 2550 S. Clark Street. Close to the Metro, close to the Pentagon, close to the customers whose work you are improving.

What we offer:

$96,000 – $112,000 depending on demonstrated ability and interview performance.
