Job summary

SteerBridge, a modern technology company delivering mission-critical solutions in the U.S. Government sector, seeks a Junior Software Engineer in Virginia to learn full-stack development and contribute to features for the Modern Disability Claims program.

You will write clean code, assist with UI and API features, participate in code reviews, and learn the team’s domain, coding standards, and testing practices under senior engineers.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain; Secret/Top Secret also acceptable.
• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–4 years of software engineering experience.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, TypeScript, and React.js.
• Basic understanding of Node.js and RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with Git and version-control workflows.
• Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, well-documented code to support full-stack feature development.
• Assist with implementing and testing UI and API features under guidance.
• Support senior engineers in debugging and resolving defects.
• Learn and apply coding standards, tools, and processes.
• Participate in peer code reviews to align with team practices.
• Assist with writing and maintaining unit tests.
• Document code and contribute to technical documentation.
• Learn the team’s domain and Modern Disability Claims systems.
