Job summary

RTX in McKinney, TX is seeking a Software Engineer I to join the Advanced Products and Solutions (APS) unit. You will contribute to design, development, testing, and integration of software for EO/IR programs in real-time systems for aerospace and defense applications.

This entry-level role is ideal for those eager to grow in software engineering. A STEM degree and experience in C++ and Linux are required, along with the ability to work in a collaborative team and obtain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in STEM.
• Experience in C++ programming and OO design.
• Experience with Linux OS, including shell scripting.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and debug software in C++ for real-time systems running on Linux.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of software.
• Implement and optimize software algorithms to meet performance, reliability, and scalability requirements of mission-critical applications.
• Perform integration testing hardware, ensuring seamless operation and compliance with system requirements.
• Write and maintain software documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and user manuals.
• Work onsite at McKinney, TX
• Support Formal Qualification Test events
• Conduct unit testing and software integration testing to verify functionality and compliance with system requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
• Adhere to industry best practices, coding standards, and security guidelines specific to aerospace and defense applications.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and ensuring adherence to program standards.
• Able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
