Job summary

EBSCO Information Services is seeking a Software Engineer in Birmingham, AL to join an Agile team building, testing, and deploying products for researchers. You will design and implement software in 1–2 week iterations as part of an Agile Release Train and SAFe program increments.

You will work on architecture, collaborate with product management, and own quality from development through deployment, leveraging AI tools thoughtfully while ensuring secure, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years of professional software development experience with C#/.NET and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• 0–3 years of professional experience in React (Next.js a plus) and modern web fundamentals (HTML, CSS, HTTP, JSON, REST).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architecture, design, implementation, testing, delivery and operation of components for EBSCO products and services.
• Translate complex requirements into clear user stories with product management.
• Own quality across development, testing and deployment.
• Write well-engineered solutions using test-first and test-driven approaches.
• Leverage AI tools across planning, coding, testing and review with sound judgment.
• Provide ongoing maintenance and enhancements including on-call support as needed.
• Collaborate with engineers to raise design, coding, performance and security standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in line with Agile and SAFe principles.
