Job summary

EBSCO Information Services is seeking a Software Engineer to join an agile team, building, testing, and deploying products that empower researchers. You will design and implement software in 1- or 2-week iterations as part of an Agile Release Train, contributing to SAFe program increments.

You will work with product management to break down requirements, own quality, and apply test-first principles, while leveraging AI tools responsibly across the development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• 0–3 years of professional software development with C#/.NET and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with React (Next.js a plus) and modern web fundamentals.
• Working knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL/SQL Server) and ANSI SQL.
• Proficiency with Git and source control.
• Familiarity with using AI across the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to architecture, design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operation of components for EBSCO products and services.
• Break down complex requirements into clear user stories with product management.
• Estimate features, design, build, and test them within an iteration.
• Own quality throughout development, testing, and deployment.
• Write well-engineered solutions using test-first and test-driven approaches.
• Use AI tools thoughtfully across the development lifecycle with judgment and verification.
• Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements to existing systems (on-call as needed).
• Collaborate with engineers to raise standards in design, coding, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in line with Agile/SAFe.
