Job summary

SkillStorm is seeking an early-career software professional to join our Washington, DC team. You will develop, maintain, and support software applications for enterprise clients while advancing technical skills through our structured training and mentorship programs.

You will work with engineers and clients to translate requirements into solutions, write clean code, and contribute to testing, deployment, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • At least 1 year of paid W2 experience in a technical role.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, databases, and SQL.
  • Experience with an object-oriented language such as Java or C#.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.
  • Willingness to relocate for client placement.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. on SkillStorm's W2.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance software applications.
  • Write clean, efficient, maintainable code.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and defects.
  • Participate in code reviews and software development activities.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Support software testing and deployment.
  • Maintain technical documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with developers, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Continue developing your technical skills and knowledge of industry technologies.

Skills

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related technical field
  • At least 1 year of paid W2 experience in a technical role
  • Working knowledge of programming fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, databases, and SQL
  • Experience with an object-oriented programming language such as Java or C#
  • Strong problem-solving and logical reasoning skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance
  • Willingness to relocate for client placement
