Job summary

SAIC in Huntsville, Alabama is seeking a Junior Software Developer for the STARS products branch. You will support the evolution of mission-critical warfighter training and planning tools, including the Java-based FBM Planner, to rapidly plan, optimize, and deploy sensor search plans.

As part of a team of engineers and radar analysts, you will translate complex physics and engineering models into scalable software, work with DoD DevSecOps practices, and help ensure cybersecurity standards for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with zero years' experience; four years may substitute.
• Strong programming skills in C++, Java, and Python.
• Experience with XML data structures and parsing utilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the Software design for the FBM Planner suite, including core GUI, Rapid Response Tool (RRT), and Socrates parsing utility.
• Support and maintain interoperability with external intelligence and modeling frameworks (TGx, TMSS).
• Implement heuristic algorithms for search plan optimization and 4/3 Earth Radius models for terrain masking (DTED).
• Ensure robust data ingestion/export pipelines for tactical log data (radars, SPT, OSP, XML).
• Support the software team in DoD DevSecOps practices and cybersecurity standards for deployment.
• Translate complex physics and engineering models into scalable, performant software by collaborating with radar systems analysts.
