Job summary

Bcore is hiring a Junior Software Developer for a hybrid role based in Vienna, VA and Chantilly, VA, with up to 3 days of remote work. You will learn to translate business needs into software, write secure code, and work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions.

Ideal candidates have 0-2+ years in full-stack development, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and familiarity with databases and APIs.

Qualifications

• 0-2+ years of experience with full-stack software development leveraging one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Groovy, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Java, Node)
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (additional experience may be substituted for education)
• Strong understanding of database foundations (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, etc.) to include
• Basic understanding of relational database design principles (e.g. Normalization vs Denormalization)
• General knowledge of database administration concepts (e.g. users, schemas, constraints)
• Basic understanding or some experience with multimedia streaming technologies and video processing workflows (encoding, transcoding, clipping)
• Basic understanding or some experience with API design and implementation
• Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment

Responsibilities

• Support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of software systems in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team

• Ensure that products are designed and developed for scalability, robustness, maintainability, and interoperability
• Learn and apply Development Best Practices through mentorship and training
• Collaborate with team members and seek ways to grow technical skills
• Participate actively in code reviews and team learning activities

• Experience with Cloud Providers, preferably AWS
• The expected salary range within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is $135,000 - 165,000. Final compensation is unique to each individual and will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, and contractual requirements. This is not a guarantee.
