Job summary

Bcore in Vienna, VA is seeking a Junior Software Developer to help translate business problems into software solutions under the guidance of senior developers, building scalable, secure applications for government missions.

This role supports a multi-disciplinary team, adhering to security and customer requirements, and participates in code reviews and development best practices in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Qualifications

• 0-2+ years of experience with full-stack software development leveraging one or more programming languages (e.g. Python, Groovy, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Java, Node).
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (additional experience may be substituted for education).
• Strong understanding of database foundations (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, etc.) with basic relational design principles.
• Basic understanding of multimedia streaming technologies and video processing workflows.
• Basic understanding or experience with API design and implementation.
• Experience in a fast-paced agile environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (additional experience may be substituted for education)
• Strong understanding of database foundations (e.g. PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, etc.) to include: o Basic understanding of relational database design principles (e.g. Normalization vs Denormalization) o General knowledge of database administration concepts (e.g. users, schemas, constraints)
• Possesses a basic understanding or has some experience working with multimedia streaming technologies and video processing workflows (encoding, transcoding, clipping)
• Possesses a basic understanding or has some experience with API design and implementation
• Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment

Desired Qualifications:

• Possesses a basic understanding or has some experience working with Content Management Systems such as CrafterCMS
• Preferred candidates present an understanding and some experience working with a
• Model-View-Controller (MVC) architectural design pattern: o Experience working with Java for backend development is idealo Experience working with JavaScript and TypeScript for frontend development is deal
• Experience with Cloud Providers, preferably AWS

What you can expect from us

• The expected salary range within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $135,000 - 165,000. Final compensation is unique to each individual and will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, and contractual requirements. This is not a guarantee.
