Job summary

Ferguson & Shamamian Architects in New York, NY, seeks a motivated Junior Architect to contribute to highly custom traditional residential projects through all design phases, from schematic design to construction documents.

The ideal candidate holds a B.Arch/B.S.Arch/B.A.Arch or M.Arch, with up to 3 years of experience, and demonstrates strong organizational, drafting and communication skills, with a collaborative, methodical approach and a drive for growth within the firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in architecture (B.Arch, B.S.Arch, B.A.Arch, or M.Arch) required.
• Up to 3 years experience.
• Knowledge of classical and traditional architecture.
• Self-motivated with interpersonal skills to work independently and in teams.
• Resourceful multitasker with good time management and deadline pressure.
• Highly organized with detail orientation and graphic abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

OPPORTUNITY:

Ferguson & Shamamian Architects is looking for highly motivated and talented Junior Architects to join our firm. This position offers the opportunity to work amongst a dedicated team on highly custom traditional residential projects through all phases of design and documentation from schematic design and design development to construction documents and construction administration. Responsibilities include preparing design studies, presentation drawings & materials, drafting and detailing construction documents, and coordinating with outside designers and consultants. The ideal candidate enjoys working collaboratively and methodically with the desire for personal growth and future leadership roles within their career.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• B.Arch, B.S.Arch, B.A.Arch, or M.Arch minimum required degree
• Up to 3 years experience
• Knowledge of and appreciation for classical and traditional architecture
• Self-motivated with solid interpersonal skills to work well both independently and collaboratively
• Resourceful multitasker with good time management skills and ability to work under deadlines
• Highly organized and detail oriented with good problem-solving skills and graphic abilities
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ambitious, creative, versatile, collegial, and curious

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and InDesign
• Comprehensive design and documentation skills including hand drawing & sketching
